Import your Hevy history into GoGAINZ
If the feed is the part of Hevy you could do without, your history does not have to stay behind with it. Hevy exports a CSV of everything you logged, GoGAINZ reads it, and the whole thing takes about five minutes. Free on every tier.
Menu paths checked September 2026. Apps move their settings around; if a step here is wrong, tell me and I will fix it.
Export from Hevy
- 1
In Hevy, open the Profile tab and tap the settings gear.
- 2
Tap Export & Import Data, then Export workouts. Hevy generates a CSV and offers to share it.
- 3
Save it somewhere your phone can find again: Files, Drive, or send it to yourself.
Import into GoGAINZ
- 4
Install GoGAINZ and sign in. Importing is free, but your history syncs to your account, so you need one.
- 5
Open Settings > Data Import > Import workout history and choose the CSV file.
- 6
Read the preview: how many sessions and templates it found, how many exercises matched, how many need a look.
- 7
Review the exercises GoGAINZ did not recognize. For each one, match it to an existing exercise, create it as a custom exercise, or skip it. Nothing is written until you finish the list.
- 8
Confirm. Your sessions, templates and records land in your logbook, and the next time you open one of those exercises your last numbers are already there.
What comes across
- Every logged session, with its date, exercises, sets, reps and weights
- Your workout templates
- The personal records inside that history
- The RPE you logged on each set
- Exercises GoGAINZ already knows, matched automatically
What doesn't
- Per-set or per-workout notes
- Distance on cardio entries
- Empty sets (a row with no reps or weight)
- Warm-up and cool-down entries
- Anything the file does not spell out: rows that cannot be read are counted and reported at the end, not guessed at
Run it twice, safely
Importing the same file again updates what is already there instead of duplicating it. Keep logging in your old app for a week, export again, import the newer file, and you still have one copy of everything.
Moving from Hevy: common questions
- How do I export my Hevy workouts?
- In Hevy, go to Profile, then the settings gear, then Export & Import Data, then Export workouts. It produces one CSV file with every workout you have logged. That file is what GoGAINZ imports.
- Can I transfer my Hevy workout history to another app?
- Yes. Hevy's export has your sessions, templates and set data in it. GoGAINZ imports all of that, including the records and RPE inside it, and lets you review any exercise name it does not recognize before writing a single row.
- Does GoGAINZ import Hevy CSV files?
- Yes, Hevy and Strong CSV exports are the two formats the importer reads today. Go to Settings > Data Import > Import workout history in GoGAINZ and choose the file.
- What happens if I import the same Hevy file twice?
- You get one copy, not two. Importing again updates what is already there, so you can keep logging in Hevy for a while, export again, and import the newer file safely.
- Is importing free?
- Yes, on every tier. You need to be signed in to GoGAINZ, because your history syncs to your account rather than sitting on one phone.
